HOTEL ÅREGÅRDEN

HISTORY

The railway to Trondheim, which opened in 1882 by King Oscar I, became the starting point for tourism in Åre. An enterprising woman by the name of Kristina Hansson, who was active in Östersund, realised the business opportunities in Åre and borrowed money to build a new hotel, complete with a first class restaurant and lounge. This resulted in the construction of the first hotel in Åre, a beautiful building in Swiss style with 18 rooms by the name of Åreskutan and which was opened with great fanfare in 1895.

Today this hotel still stands proud, right in the centre of Åre Village, with as much charm and tradition as it had 120 years ago. The hotel is situated by Åre square, close to the train station and skiing.

The hotel lobby and bar have always been a central meeting point for villagers and tourists alike. With a strong focus on our lovely guests, fantastic food and drinks, fun parties and a constant striving to be the best mountain hotel in Scandinavia, we are the hotel for you who would like to stay in exclusive surroundings and experience that little bit extra.
